Everyday consumer goods may contain substances that are dangerous to our health.

In order to prevent repeated daily exposure to these substances, safelife® standards’ aim is to guarantee to consumers, particularly through exclusion lists, the absence of substances that are risky according to the current state-of-the-art scientific knowledge.

The safelife® label is a guarantee of a superior health safety compare to existing labels.

To be labeled safelife®, products must comply with the safelife standard corresponding to their sector.

The safelife standards are appraised by the Scientific Committee of the Association and are built from lists and publications produced by internationally recognized experts’ groups.

The mention of the Safelife Association can only be made on products or formulas that have been audited and declared compliant with the safelife® standards by the Association.

By offering manufacturers the opportunity to comply with the safelife® standards, the Association is not liable and does not guarantee a result.

GENERAL FRAMEWORK

Each safelife® standards is specific to a technical and / or industrial sector and has 2 successive requirements’ level.

LEVEL 1

The first level of requirement is provided by "ecological" standards of each sector. These standards are recognized as serious private initiatives by scientific communities, environmental experts and more generally European Authorities. The main principle of these standards is to respect of the ecological balance in products’ life cycle. By nature, they exclude ecotoxic processes that are also toxic for organisms, although this is a deadweight effect rather than a final purpose.

LEVEL 2

The second level of requirement is provided by the safelife® standard itself and corresponds to exclusion lists and requirements developed by the Safelife Association’s Scientific Council.

For each sector, the health safety’s level of the "ecological" standards will determine the exclusion lists and requirements guaranteeing a superior health security.
